The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) announced the world rankings for the 39th week of 2026 on September 21st.
Akira Yokotani, Ryoichi Yoshiyama, Hoshi Kawagami and others have significantly improved their ranks.
This week, points for four tournaments, including WTT Feeder Istanbul 2025, have expired, and points for four tournaments, including WTT Star Contender Astana 2026 (hereinafter WTT Astana), have been added.
In men’s singles, there was no change in the rankings of the top nine. Wang Chuqin (China) took 1st place and Félix Leblanc (France) held 2nd place. The highest ranking Japanese athlete was Terusora Matsushima (individual) in 3rd place, followed by Tomokazu Harimoto (Toyota Motors) in 4th place.

Among the Japanese players, Ryoichi Yoshiyama (Nihon University), who finished in the top eight at WTT Astana, rose 10 places to 60th place. Sei Kawakami (Kinoshita Academy), who made it through the preliminaries and advanced to the third round of the tournament, also moved up nine ranks to 64th place.

Also, Akira Yokotani (Okayama Rivets), who won WTT Feeder Bangkok 2026, rose 41 places to 104th place. It’s close to breaking into the top 100.
Among overseas competitors, Qiu Dan (Germany) defeated Alexis Leblanc (France) in the final of the WTT Astana, moving up one place to 10th place. Runner-up LeBlanc maintained 9th place with 3,720 points.

Zhou Qihao (China), who finished in the top four at the same tournament, jumped two places to 16th place, and LI Tianyang (China) jumped 67 places to 71st place.

In men’s doubles, there was no change in the top five, with Alexis Leblanc/Félix Leblanc (France) maintaining the number one spot. The highest ranking Japanese team was Shunsuke Togami (Imuraya Group)/Daito Shinozuka (Toto Kanko Bus) who finished 13th.
Darius Mobileanu/Eduardo Ionescu (Romania), who won the WTT Astana, moved up 28 places to 18th place.
In mixed doubles, Im Jong-hoon/Shin Yu-bin (South Korea) maintained first place. The highest ranked Japanese pair, Terusora Matsushima/Miwa Harimoto (Kinoshita Group), maintains their 11th place.

The pair of Hiromu Kobayashi (First)/Miyu Kihara (Top Otome Ping Pongs Nagoya), who finished second at WTT Astana, rose 18 places to 18th place. The pair of Chen Junsong and Wang Yidi (China), who won the tournament, debuted in 31st place.
